Background: Darren's family has a fair amount of wealth and established esteem throughout wizarding social circles in Europe. His father Adair went to Durmstrang and grew up primarily in Germany, though he traveled quite a bit with his own family. On a trip to Ireland he met and eventually married Erin. Erin (Darren's mother) comes from a long established wizard family in Ireland and she went to Hogwarts where she was a Ravenclaw. Darren has been home-schooled all his life prior to attending Hogwarts. He traveled around with his father soaking up everything he could about the cultures of the places they traveled to and his father's work. Adair works as something along the lines of a mediator and political and business middleman. Darren has seen muggles and finds them sometimes fascinating in the way one finds a prairie dog in a zoo interesting. He does not really understand muggles and finds them to be something akin to a naive pet that isn't capable of understanding what's good for them.
Personality: Darren is quiet, but not shy, and very patient and subtle in his ambitions. He picked up on his father's behavior and usually thinks carefully about the decisions he makes and how they will effect the outcome, especially how it will effect him. He'll be neutral and stay on good terms with both sides of an argument and is quite adept at handling himself in social and difficult situations. This way he can assure that he gains the most from the deal. He can be very arrogant and stuck up and has a high brow attitude that people should be civilized and cultured. He's always clean and looks the best he can as first impressions are very important to him. Darren is a natural charmer and rarely has true enemies. The key word to describe Darren is subtlety. What he shows to everyone else and what he's really thinking aren't necessarily the same thing (and they usually aren't).
Likes: Opera, classical music, jazz music, getting his way with as little effort and fuss as possible, archery, falconry
Dislikes: Being dirty, most sports, structure that isn't from his own doing
Academic Outlook: He's been home-schooled up until the start of this school year (fall of what's now his 5th year). Being home-schooled doesn't mean he's any smarter than anyone else, he's an average student, but he's just learned the material through a different method. He feels that learning is a very important aspect of life and that it never really ends. He has some difficulty with the structure of school because of his previous educational experiences and dislikes it. Though he might have trouble with a particularly structured assignment or staying focused in a classroom, he usually learns well by experience and by reading books on his own time and initiative.

He has a relatively fair complexion with rich brown hair. His brown eyes often have a very inquisitive and scanning sort of nature to them, like he's always studying what's around him. They have a cool calm to them and rarely betray any frustration or anxiety he might be feeling. He always has a calm appearing demeanor and is rarely seen flustered or frustrated. When not in his school robes, Darren is in something nice, like dress shirts, slacks, and dress shoes.
