Background: Artemis is an only child, but found her soulmate at the age of three and a half. He lived the next street over from Grandmother's house in Rome. Her father worked at the Embassy and Artemis saw little of him. She spent most of her formative years in the care of her Grandmother. She met her soulmate at a festival, a worldly six year old, he told off a belligerent child of a rich merchant who was teasing little Artemis. She loved him immediately, his name was Apollo. The irony of their names is not lost on her, but Artemis is not interested in the meanings associated with a few letters.
Apollo left for boarding school when Artemis was eight. He was, of course, a wizard, and like all wizards had to learn how to use his magic. Artemis had learned to stand up for herself but she was still the victim of some, as there were those who were jealous of the friendship she shared with the popular Apollo. They made many grand plans to get together during breaks, but in the middle of his first year away Artemis's father was relocated and the family moved to France. All at once Artemis lost a grandmother and her best friend.
It was very hard, and for more than two years the only contact she had with Apollo was through letters. When she was 11 she received her letter from Beauxbaton and so was packed up and sent off at the end of summer. To her shock and joy she met Apollo again, as he'd convinced his parents to transfer him there. Reunited at last. There were always those jealous of her closeness with Apollo, many girls felt that Artemis did not deserve him, but they didn't understand and Apollo made it very clear that he would not tolerate a mistreatment of Artemis. The years they spent together there were the happiest Artemis had ever known. Apollo was her confidant, defender, the other half to a lonely soul. Artemis felt as if she had everything she ever wanted.
Artemis says her world ended the day Apollo died. It was an accident, one that happened in the muggle world. Apollo was a half blood, and his older brother had a great love of cars. The doctor told Artemis they died instantly, Apollo agreed.
It is not so easy to extricate someone from their soulmate. When Apollo died he didn't move on, he found Artemis. He didn't appear to her until months after his death, adapting to death was harder than he imagined. He scared her badly at first, but over time Artemis came to accept her spirit friend. Apollo had come back to her, only he lacked a corporeal body.
Artemis's parents, however, have no wish for their daughter to cling to a dead boy and so have uprooted Artemis from France and moved her to the United Kingdom. They hope that there Artemis will not have to bear Apollo's presence, only the boy is 'haunting' her, and not some particular spot. He has learned, though, how to keep out of sight and has remained quiet until Artemis could get out and go to her new school Hogwarts.
Personality: Artemis can be shy, in that she is hesitant at first meeting as she fears a bad reaction. Once met though, she quickly loses that fear and is a good and honest friend. She has been forced to adapt to being by herself, she depended a great deal on Apollo for her strength, only to discover that strength was hers all along. She is quick witted and playful, though there is an aura of sadness about her and she is cautious. There are many things she fears, but she tries to bear it with as much grace as she can muster.

Academic Outlook: Artemis likes school. She does well at it, for all she claims she doesn't try. It just isn't very hard. She does like class though, most of the time.

Counter Quirks: Can be shy. At times she has a short attention span. She can get tired and irritated. She is not particularly athletic. She depends too much on other people instead of herself.
Appearance: Artemis has dirty blond wavy hair. It is fairly short, just long enough to tuck behind her ears and short enough that it rarely stays there. She doesn't really do anything with her hair, just brushes it and lets it be. She has green hazel eyes, nothing that she finds particularly remarkable, but she does have naturally long lashes. Her cheeks are dimpled when she smiles and her nose suits her face without being large or dainty. She is not tall nor short and doesn't see any of the sophisticated beauty of her French classmates. In all she is quite average.
Apollo was 16 when he died. Mature for his age, nonetheless he died a child. In life he was average height and a slender figure. He had dark shaggy hair that often fell in his eyes. He was attractive and popular and despite being a charismatic personality in the center of school life he never forgot Artemis. Whatever he said she always understood and was always supportive of his often unlikely schemes. While Artemis is shy, Apollo was outgoing, confident and loved to see how far he could push himself. It was a strange pairing at times, the reserved Artemis and the gregarious Apollo and yet somehow it worked.
Death hasn't changed him too much. In part he hasn't quite accepted it, he still wants things to go on like they used to. But he is slowly starting to realize that he is dead and Artemis is alive and nothing will ever be the same.
